The Volkswagen Beetle: Juiced Up

The new VW Beetle's outdoor campaign in Toronto and Vancouver offers an enhanced experience, using augmented reality. The AR animations can be seen on gigantic billboards in Toronto’s Dundas Square, as well as on transit shelters throughout Vancouver and Toronto. The animations themselves show the Beetle launching itself through billboards, jumping off of a massive ramp that appears to emerge from the side of a building, and smashing through transit shelters after racing through a long tunnel that appears to be built behind the shelter itself. All the animations serve to demonstrate that this is a much more aggressive, performance-oriented Beetle than any of its predecessors.

Citroën UK: DS4SEEKERS - A game of hide and seek

A game of hide and seek in the real and virtual world by Citroen UK for the promotion of the new DS4. The campaign "DS4SEEKERS". Players use their mobile phones to hide or seek virtual DS4s on Google Maps and Google Streetview and score points in order to win a real DS4. With each point you get one entry into the draw so the more points you get, the more chances you have of winning.

It's cool that you can play out on the streets, if you have the time of course and online if you don't. The game will run for two 10 day periods, with the second planned for September 2011.

Fiat Street Evo: iPhone app

A small budget is not a problem. Lack of ideas is the problem. Leo Burnett Madrid, had a very clever idea for the promotion of the new Fiat Punto Evo. The target group was the tech savy generation so they made an iPhone app that treats road signs like QR Codes. People used the app to capture the signs and get relative  information on the features of the Punto Evo like the park assist from a parking sign or the breaking system from a stop sign.

To make the game more fun and appealing, hundreds of signs had hidden prizes and the first who discovered them, won the prize.

TUI, one of the biggest tourism firms in Germany, launched last winter the “Bad Weather Vacation”: the very first bad weather competition! A mobile app tracked your position and your current weather conditions by connecting to weather stations. You had to check-in your weather conditions and the worse they were, the better your score. After a month, the person experiencing the worst weather in Germany won a great holiday in the Dominican Republic.
