Working from Home: The Future of Workplaces

How do you feel about working from home and not be chained in your office? Is your presence really necessary in the office or you just lose time and money stuck in traffic in order to get there?

According to a very recent survey conducted by Skype, working from home is the future. Regardless of how biased a survey from Skype might be, it undoubtedly shows that working from home is more than a trend. It is happening now and it will grow drastically.

Skype’s survey, is based on responses from 1,000 professionals at around 500 businesses of all sizes.

Working from home is easier than ever thanks to all the online collaboration tools, such as Skype. E-mail is not the king anymore. It will decline. Video conferencing, desktop video and VoIP are the technologies that will prevail, followed by room-based video, mobile phones and IM.

The survey shows that 62% of the companies allow some of their employees to work from home. 34% of the employees actually can work from home and they spend 40% of their work time there.
But is remote working good for business? It seems yes. According to the survey, decision makers think that working from home is more productive. Also, employees

Overall, it is a very interesting survey and you can download it here.

IKEA: Peace, Love and Storage

Who do you think is messier? Men or Women? IKEA urge you to take sides on their new integrated advertising campaign.

The campaign, called "Peace, Love and Storage" will launched today, 1st April, in the UK.
It is shot in front of a live audience with four stand-up comedians who debate which sex is messier. With this campaign IKEA highlights how domestic clutter can affect a couple and lead to arguments. The solution is simple. IKEA's storage units can solve this problem and tidy up your house.

Since we are in 2011, the campaign continues online at IKEA's Facebook where viewers can vote for the sex who think it's messier and submit photos and videos to prove their decision. The Facebook page custom app can also allow them to share their arguments with friends.

First Floor Bar and Restaurant: Drunken Direction Signs

Objective: ‘First Floor’-a pub located in Asia’s largest IT hub Nehru Place, Delhi. Around 2 million visit this marketplace everyday. Despite this large plausible customer base ‘FIRST FLOOR’ remained lost amongst zillions of shops. The challenge was to make consumers take notice of ‘First Floor’ and direct them to it.

Creative Solution: Nehru Place is infested with billboards and posters. The regulars have learnt to ignore them. These have turned into blind spots. Any traditional medium would just not have attracted any attention in this environment. So we got the Human Direction Signs drunk ! For one week, everyday 7 human direction signs, pretended to be happily passed out at variuos places across the market, with t-shirts stating the ‘distance’ and ‘direction’ to ‘First Floor’.

Result:This unusual sight was hard to miss. On a hot drab afternoon this quirky vision attracted several people towards it. Passerbys took a break, relating to the visual of the happy drunken tippler, some following these milestones right up to the pub. The bar became a topic of discussion amongst the crowds and began attracting consumers as an availble hangout destination. ‘First Floor’ reported a 62% increase in footfalls within a fortnight. The drunken direction signs were much talked about and the pub has got an excellent word of mouth publicity going on till date.

FAGE Total Plain Extraordinary

FAGE Total is a Greek yogurt. A few days ago a friend of mine showed me this video. I was thrilled that finally a great TV spot was produced in this category for the Greek market. UNFORTUNATELY this great spot is from the USA. Why is it so difficult for Greek marketers to accept new ideas? Why is it so difficult to understand that doing this kind of advertising helps their brands to develop? Instead all the companies in this category, not only Fage, continuously makes boring ads. It's sad.

Plain was the same as it ever was the same.
Plainly plain...
Samely same...
But then...someone lit the flame.
Plain rode away on lion's mane.
Where plain met fruits with strangely names.
Such wonderful things they did contain.
A shot of life to a hungry vein.
The captive beast who broke the chain.
And there upon that fruited plane,
is where plain became what plain became.
So much more than more than plain.
Plain will never be the same.

Mercedes-Benz: Transparent walls

Imagine yourself driving and be able to see through walls on interceptions. Then you would probably see danger way ahead.

This was Jung von Matt/Elbe's idea to showcase Mercedes-Benz's new system called Pre-Safe. This system detects road danger and can take control of the car to avoid it.

How the transparent walls worked: They used a camera to film one side of the road and live feed the other side on a wall thus make it transparent. A great installation. And a great surprise for the drivers.

Volkswagen - Fox no Planeta Terra - Twitter Zoom

Volkswagen sponsored the Planeta Terra Festival (big music festival in São Paulo) in order to bring Fox closer to the youngsters of Sao Paolo.

BBDO Brasil came up with an idea involving twitter, Google maps and prizes. They hid festival tickets across the city and launched a microsite where you could find them by using Google Maps. But, in order to zoom in you had to tweet the #foxatplanetaterra hash tag. The more tweets the more you could zoom in until you could reveal the location of the ticket. Then you just had to run and get it. This went on for four days and four nights.

The results? It only took 2 hours for the tweet #foxatplanetaterra to reach  No 1 in São Paulo's TrendTopic and stayed there for the whole campaign.

Lee: Never wasted

"With the relevance of eco-friendly initiatives increasing every day, Lee wanted an innovative solution that would display their affiliation towards the same and also spread the message amongst their customers. To drive the message home in a fun and effective way, we went for something a bit more inventive than just a bag made of recycled paper. The ‘Never Wasted’ shopping bag that can be reused in one way or another. Some for fun, some for function, but nothing ever goes into the trash. Not only did this make the idea long-lasting and interactive but also conveyed the message in a fascinating manner. A surge in interest from patrons forced us to produce 100 times more bags than the initial production of 3,000 bags."

Audi Super Bowl 2011: Luxury Prison

Audi tries hard to prove that Mercedes especially and all that the star on the hood reflects is a thing from a past. The old luxury. Audi is the new luxury. A modern one.

Prior to the Super Bowl, and the A8 “Release The Hounds” commercial, Audi released two videos set in a “Luxury Prison” in order to built the story. In the first 3 minutes video we see rich guys, representing the old school, trying to startle young rich kids. In the second video Kenny G uses his saxophone to calm down the inmates. The third video is the Super Bowl spot.

Great work from Venables Bell & Partners. They've created an integrated campaign, using TV, a twitter competition, and a luxury estate sale where they are auctioning off old luxury items in exchange for new one.
